like bubbles, like shadows, 2024

release date: 01 Nov 2024
"(Let) Go, (let) go, (let) go all the way over, to the other shore. Awakening, oh hail!"
(gate-gate para-gate parasan-gate bodhi svāhā)
In this soundtrack, Anita Pan quoted the above mantra from the Heart Sutra. The quest towards awakening and fullness involves the persistent movement of "going" (all the Way), which synchronizes with that of continuous "letting go".

"like bubbles, like shadows" is a dark ambience piece composed following a narrative sequence, namely, the ash, the war, the rain and the ruins. It's derived from my playing with a recording of oxygen bubbles, translating the recording into varied sounds in synthesizer.

The title "like bubbles, like shadows" corresponds to the Chinese expression "泡影" (as in "梦幻泡影": like a dream, like illusion, like bubbles, like shadows), and it implies the illusory appearances of the physical reality.
